Emergency plan

If a passport goes missing, reduce panic and move in a fixed order.

This page keeps the sequence simple: police report first, embassy or consular contact second, airport contingency information last.

Step 1. File a police report

Visit the nearest police station or tourist police center and get a written lost-property report before heading to the embassy.

Step 2. Contact your embassy

Call ahead if possible. Many consular teams will tell you exactly which photos, forms, and flight proof to bring.

Step 3. Prepare airport fallback

If your flight is imminent, check whether your embassy and the airport consular desk can coordinate an emergency document path.
